If you have an interest using BIM to better manage, maintain, adapt and extend a built-asset after handover, you may want to take a look at the recently published BS1192 part 4. This document sets out a Code of Practice for managing COBie data.
Here is a short excerpt from the Introduction….
COBie (Construction Operations Building information exchange) provides a common structure for the exchange of information about new and existing Facilities, including both buildings and infrastructure. This standard defines expectations for the exchange of information throughout the lifecycle of a Facility. The use of COBie ensures that information can be prepared and used without the need for knowledge of the sending and receiving applications or databases. It ensures that the information exchange can be reviewed and validated for compliance, continuity and completeness.
